Youth released without charges after Mounties fail to verify school shooting threats

A youth arrested on suspicion of threatening to shoot students at an Alberta school has been released without charges.

The youth was arrested earlier this week after Mounties received reports on Wednesday evening that someone was posting threats on Snapchat to shoot students at William E Hay School in Stettler, Alta.

While police believe the reports were made in good faith, they have not been able to verify the veracity of the original source of the threats, a news release on Friday said.

The investigation continues.
