In a few weeks, the intersection of Stony Plain Road and 124 Street will be shut down to all traffic to allow for LRT construction.
The closure was announced on social media by Marigold Infrastructure, the company responsible for work on the Valley Line West LRT expansion.
It is the first closure in a new plan to speed up LRT construction by completely shutting down intersections along the route. That plan was approved by the city in February.
A construction notice from Thursday says the closure will begin on or around April 22 and is expected to last about eight weeks.

Parking bans will be put in place and all traffic will be detoured around the intersection. Pedestrian access and access to local businesses will remain using detours.
Work will include the removal of sidewalks and roads to accommodate underground utility work, as well as the installation of tree pits, streetlights, traffic signals, track slab, and new curbs, sidewalks and pavement.
Marigold says construction will take place mostly between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Some overnight work may also be required.
Construction will be noisy, Marigold said, but “every effort” will be made to lessen the impact on the community.
A full list of transit changes can be found on the Edmonton Transit System website.
The city and Marigold have said the full closures will allow crews to work faster, with the shutdown of 124 Street and Stony Plain Road expected to save about 10 months of road work.
