She was last seen nearly six years leaving the restaurant she worked at one night in a northern Alberta town.
But although police investigators have examined several aspects and avenues related to the 2019 disappearance of Shae Lynn McAllister from Fairview, Alta., they hope they can still find enough traces of her to find her.
That hope has led to a new billboard-and-reward campaign asking the public for help locating the mother of two who vanished, Alberta RCMP Cpl. Matthew Howell said.
Fairview is 420 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
RCMP are offering a $10,000 reward leading to information that helps investigators
“Billboards and rewards are usually reserved for when all other investigative avenues have been explored and when investigators believe that there could be more information to be gained by putting up a poster and reward,” Howell told CTV News Edmonton on Friday.
“Investigators believe there is someone out there who knows some information and they are hoping that the sign pushes them to come forth and speak to the police about it.”
McAllister was last seen leaving the Fairview A&W at 10:35 p.m. on July 4, 2019. RCMP say her last known whereabouts that night were at the local Shell service station at 11:22 p.m.
She hasn’t been seen since.
Howell said police don’t have suspects in McAllister’s case. He said police conduct missing person investigations “with the hope that the person is alive” but that since it’s been nearly six years since she disappeared, it’s unlikely McAllister will be found alive.
“This is the reason why the investigators have started treating the investigation as a homicide,” Howell said.
“If Shae Lynn is found alive, or if her death leads investigators to believe there were no suspicious circumstances, that can always be changed. Until then, investigators are being cautious in order to ensure that, should a homicide be confirmed, the case can go to court.”
RCMP ask anyone with information about McAllister to call them at 780-509-3400.
