Shelter order issued in Edson

Residents of a mobile trailer park in Edson were told to shelter in place on Sunday while police searched for four people who broke into another home while armed. Two of the four were arrested.

Hospital attack prompts calls for changes

After a man was stabbed by another man in Edmonton’s Royal Alexandra Hospital emergency department last week, health-care workers are calling for increased security measures at city hospitals, like weapons scanners. The government says it already has a plan for that, and is working to get it implemented faster, while also increasing security personnel at the site.

‘I don’t think I’d be here’

A Hinton man credits a University of Alberta innovation with saving him from a serious heart attack. Upon feeling the first symptoms of pain, he took acetylsalicylic acid and nitroglycerin pills, packaged as an emergency kit in a unique polymer-blend case which maintains the medication’s potency.

NDP demand firing of Amery

Alberta’s Official Opposition and NDP are calling on the United Conservative government to fire Justice Minister Mickey Amery, calling his relation through marriage to Sam Mraiche a conflict of interest. Mraiche’s medical supply company is under investigation in connection with a health procurement controversy.

Odometer tampering

An Edmonton man is accused of tampering with odometers on used vehicles and reselling them. Police are looking for other victims and advising second-hand shoppers to exercise caution on online marketplaces.
