It will be a cold end to February, but March starts mild

Cold air has sunk in behind Thursday’s cold front, but it won’t stick around for very long.

Temperatures should rebound to highs near 0 C for Sunday/Monday. We’ll get another shortlived cool down pushing afternoon highs into the -4 to -8 C range for Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

THEN...a lengthy stretch of mild/warm weather settles in by the end of next week and that should last for several days.

For today, we’ll stay cloudy and may see some occasional flurries or pockets of light snow in the Edmonton region.

Temperatures will hover around -15 C for most of the day with light wind in the Edmonton region.

Heavy snow continues to fall in western and southern Alberta with 15-30 cm expected in areas from Nordegg to Calgary by tonight.

Red Deer will probably pick up about 10-15 cm of snow and upwards of 30 cm is likely through the mountain parks.

In Edmonton, temperatures bottom out around -20 C Saturday morning before climbing just slightly above -10 C in the afternoon.

With some clearing, we’ll get one more cold morning Sunday. But...sunshine and a high near 0 C Sunday afternoon.

There’s some disagreement in the modelling with Monday’s temperatures. But, I think we’ll probably stay in the mild air Monday and then cool off a bit Tuesday/Wednesday.
