A Grande Prairie man is $2 million richer after he bought a winning ticket for the Western Max lotto.

Ron Fraser has been buying lotto tickets at the Wapiti Road Shell in Grande Prairie for a long time.

On the March 4 draw, his ticket with the numbers 2, 8, 12, 26, 37, 41, and 50 won $2.7 million.

“I checked on the self-checker,” Fraser said in a Monday news release. “I honestly thought there was a hiccup with the terminal—I just couldn’t believe it—so I took it up to the front.”

He said he couldn’t believe the results.

“My heart is in pretty good shape,” Fraser laughed. “I didn’t get too flustered, but I was very excited.”

He says he plans to use his winnings to spend some precious time with family, including a trip to Mexico.

“It feels very rewarding,” he said.
