The High Level Bridge was closed late Saturday afternoon.
Police issued a release at 4:16 p.m. saying the bridge had been closed due to a demonstration taking place near the Alberta legislature.
Drivers were warned to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
Police had not sent an update as of 8 p.m. on whether or not the bridge remained closed.
