Festival debuts Edmonton improv comedy ensemble’s new shows

Rapid Fire Theatre is getting ready for its 2025 Bonfire Festival, which will showcase improv, sketch comedy and experimental theatre.

Edmonton’s longest-running improv comedy company is rolling out a slew of new shows over three days starting Thursday for its Bonfire Festival.

The annual event will see the Rapid Fire Theatre’s ensemble debut 12 new works over five different show times through Saturday.

All shows (ticket information) will be staged at the Rapid Fire Exchange in Old Strathcona, 10437 83 Ave.

  • Made In Japan (Thursday 7 p.m.): The world of favourite media IP (intellectual property) through the lens of Japanese animation.
  • Fantasy Romance Soap Opera (Thursday 7 p.m.)
  • Improv: A Star Wars Story (Thursday 7 p.m.)
  • Mad Libs (Friday 7 p.m.): Inspired by nouns, verbs and adjectives from the audience.
  • Prayer Circle (Friday 7 p.m.)
  • Living With (Friday 7 p.m.): An inside-out look at mental health.
  • Prize & Punk (Friday 9:30 p.m.): The audience determines the outcome of each scene, deciding whether the performers earn a ‘prize’ or get ‘punked.’
  • Poetrysports (Friday 9:30 p.m.): A collaboration between the Rapid Fire Theatre and the Edmonton Poetry Festival. Improvisers led by poets will duke it out.
  • Crowd Work (Saturday 7 p.m.)
  • Screwball! (Saturday 7 p.m.): An ode to fast-talking rom-coms.
  • Bad Behaviour (Saturday 9:30 p.m.)
  • Nonsense & Sensibility (Saturday 9:30 p.m.): A Jane Austen novel is brought to life through improv.
