1 hospitalized after vehicle catches fire, enters North Saskatchewan River: EFRS

One person was taken to hospital after a flaming car ended up on the ice of the North Saskatchewan River on Wednesday.

A man was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition on Wednesday after a vehicle caught fire and entered the North Saskatchewan River.

The call came in at 11:24 a.m. from the area of Windermere Boulevard SW.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services said firefighters extinguished the fire and were pulling the vehicle out of the river as of 1 p.m.

A spokesperson for the Edmonton Police Service says the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature.

There is no information on how the vehicle ended up in the river.
