Calgary man and Lethbridge woman charged in drug trafficking investigation

A Calgary man and a Lethbridge woman have been charged in connection with a drug trafficking investigation undertaken by Lethbridge police.

On Jan. 22, officers observed a man and a woman engaged in behaviour consistent with drug trafficking.

The woman was arrested shortly after that outside a residence. A targeted traffic stop was conducted, and the man arrested.

A search police described as “incidental to the arrest” yielded more than 300 grams of cocaine, 430 street doses of fentanyl and just over $2,600 in cash which police believe were the proceeds of crime.

The combined street value of the drugs was estimated at close to $36,000.

The woman was found to be in possession of a small amount of fentanyl and over $4,300 in cash, which police say was the proceeds of crime.

A 39-year-old Calgary man was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of the proceeds of crime and three counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a release order.

The man was remanded into custody. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

A 33-year-old Lethbridge woman was charged with possession of the proceeds of crime and failing to comply with the conditions of a release order. She is waiting to have a bail hearing.
