It’s a messy day for Calgary commuters.
Some early evening rain showers moved over the city last night, some may have even heard some thunder!
The rain turned into wet snow overnight thanks to an arctic low pressure system over the N.W.T. that’s funneling cold air into the Prairies.

This morning, the cold air and ongoing flurries created slick conditions and poor lane definition on the roads.
The situation doesn’t improve outside of Calgary. In fact, many regions west of the city along the foothills are under snowfall warnings as a second wave of snow is anticipated tonight.
While Calgarians should expect a couple of centimetres of snow from this second round, it’s going to be communities like Lethbridge south of the city that experience the heavier accumulations.

The flurries should start to subside on Thursday morning and then we will start to see that sunshine work its way back into the forecast and the positive temperatures as well.
A ridge of high pressure will start to move in late tomorrow, clearing the sky for the weekend where temperatures are expected to soar back into the mid-teens by Sunday.
