Those cold temperatures and snowy conditions will soon be just a memory for Calgary, we just have to get through Thursday first!

Early morning snowfall will mean many Calgarians will need to brush off their vehicles this morning heading to work, but by the time you’re driving home, you’ll need to swap the snow scraper for sunglasses!

That arctic low that gave us a blast of mid-week winter weather is on its way out and a beautiful ridge of high pressure is moving in.
However, areas in the extreme south like Lethbridge will still be under snowfall warnings this morning as they receive the last blast from this system.
We’ll start to feel that transition to warmer weather as we progress through Thursday. While it starts off cool and cloudy, the sun will begin to make its presence known by the noon hour and the sky will continue to get more clear overnight.

Unfortunately, the sun will be focused on melting the snow before it can warm up the temperatures, so the high today is only expected to be 0 C, still well below that seasonal high of 9 C.
The warming trend picks up momentum on Friday. It’s shaping up to be gorgeous with lots of sunshine and a high of 5 C, but the real ramp up is on Saturday and Sunday with highs of 16 C.

While April can really be all over the map when it comes to temperatures and conditions, for those who love the warmer weather, there seems to be a good stretch of above seasonal temps heading our way.
This is thanks to an omega block pattern in the upper atmosphere, which will lock this high pressure above the province for several days if not a week!
