SUPERTRAIN is Canada’s largest model train show and this weekend hundreds of displays are set up inside the Olympic Oval.
The 2025 edition features 107 exhibitors from across Canada, the U.S. and even one from Israel.
The displays are spread across more than 6,500 square metres and, in addition to the model railroad layouts, there are live demonstrations and clinics.
“People are going to enjoy this because they can see trains of all sizes, from subminiature smaller than your finger all the way to up to CPKC’s’ Little General, which is big enough for the kids to climb on and they’re certainly doing that today,” says Rob Badmington, SUPERTRAIN Committee 2025 member.

Organizers moved the event to the Olympic Oval to give everyone more room to move around and see all the exhibits.
“This is a great wide open space, there’s lots of room for the kids to move around and see all of the exhibits,” he says.
“The extra space has allowed some of the exhibitors to expand to their greatest desires. We have modular layouts that can expand or contract based on the space available and they’re all maxed out to the biggest space they can use.”
Several manufacturers were on site to show off their latest and greatest designs.
The first model train show to use the name SUPERTRAIN was held in March 1995 at Mewata Amouries. The show has since moved venues several times over the years to accommodate a growing number of exhibitors and visitors.
Once again this year, SUPERTRAIN is supporting the Calgary Food Bank and has collection boxes out for visitors to drop off non-perishable food items.
