Retired physiotherapist charged in alleged sexual assault of 12-year-old girl: Lethbridge police

LETHBRIDGE, ALTA. — A retired physiotherapist in Lethbridge is facing charges in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.

The alleged incident, which took place during treatment at Chinook Regional Hospital, was reported to Lethbridge police in late 2024.

Police say the victim was sexually assaulted twice between November 2021 and January 2022 during physical therapy sessions.

The physiotherapist, who is retired from his position and no longer employed by Alberta Health Services, was arrested without incident.

Kin Wai Godfrey Kwan, 61, of Lethbridge, was charged with two counts each of sexual assault of a person under 16 and sexual interference.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 16.
