Peggy the Dog is coming to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo.
The six year old British pugese – a cross between a pug and a Chinese crested dog -- enjoyed her breakthrough in January, 2023, when she was officially named the ugliest dog in England during a national contest.
Winning that title – which came with a grooming session and photoshoot-- didn’t bother Peggy’s owner, Holly Middleton
“Even though some people find Peggy’s unusual appearance strange, and in rare cases off-putting, and despite Peggy winning the ugliest dog in the UK title, we think she is beautiful both inside and out, and wouldn’t change her for the world,” Middleton told Pritti Mistry of the BBC in 2023.
Since that eventful breakthrough, Peggy has appeared in the film Deadpool & Wolverine which has grossed a little under $1.4 billon worldwide.
In Calgary, Peggy the Dog will serve as the PAWrader in Chief, the Official Pet of the 2025 POW! Parade of Wonders on April 25, 2025.

Other guests appearing at this year’s festival include Buffy the Vampire stars David Boreanz and James Marsters, Twilight cast members Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli and Rachelle Lefevre, Doctor Who’s Catherine Tate, Jodie Whitaker and Mandip Gill, Daredevil star Charlie Cox, Bitsie Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin from Superman & Lois, High School Musical’s Corbin Bleu and Lucas Grabeel, Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei, Alicia Silvertone and comic book legend Frank Miller.
There will also be a Back to the Future cast reunion featuring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
