A Calgary man is facing charges after allegedly exposing himself to two students at a local elementary school.
It happened at Nellie McClung School in the 2300 block of Palliser Drive S.W. at 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2.
Police say the students “noticed a man acting suspiciously near the school” before he entered a treed area and “exposed himself in the direction of the girls.”
The students immediately reported the incident to staff, who then called police.
Investigators were able to get a detailed physical description of the man.
Police arrested a suspect the next day, and say he was “found near the school.”
Alejandro Jose Cervera-Marin, 26, is charged with two counts of indecent exposure to persons under the age of 16, two counts of criminal harassment and one count of intimidation, among other offences.
He is scheduled to appear in court on May 20.
“Indecent acts are traumatizing to anyone, especially young children,” said. Sgt. Trent Barker-Petersen in a Friday news release.
“We recognize that it can be difficult to report such acts, and we are thankful that the students came forward. This is a criminal offence and there is zero tolerance for such highly inappropriate behaviour in our community.”
