The Calgary Wranglers lost their second straight in California, losing 3-1 to the Gulls in San Diego Saturday night.

Calgary got an early goal from Jeremie Poirier, but that turned out to be the only goal they would score.

The Gulls bounced back in the second with a goal from Nico Myatovic, and then in the third, got singles from Stian Solberg and Roland McKeown.

San Diego outshot Calgary 25-21.

Friday night, the Wranglers lost 8-2 to the Bakersfield Condors.

That defeat was particularly disheartening after the slumping club jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead on goals from Parker Bell and Sam Morton.

However, starting at the 5:26 mark of the second, Bakerfield responded with five second-period goals from Matvey Petrov, two from Noah Philp, and singles from Drake Caggiula and Ethan Keppen to open up a 5-2 lead heading to the third period.

In the third, Bakersfield added goals from Ethan Keppen, James Hamblin and Connor Carrick to make it an 8-2 final.

Bakersfield outshot Calgary 36-35.

The Wranglers are 2-7-1 in their past 10 games and have slipped to sixth place in the Pacific Division, but they remain in a playoff spot.

The Wranglers continue their U.S. four-game road trip Tuesday, when they open a back-to-back series with the Tuscon Roadrunners.

The Wranglers also announced that they’ve added centre Carter Wilkie on an amateur tryout.
