Hurricanes hold two-game lead after defeating Wheat Kings

The Lethbridge Hurricanes took a commanding two-game lead in their first-round series against Brandon, defeating the Wheat Kings 4-3 Saturday night.

Following a scoreless first period, the teams opened it up, scoring five goals.

The Hurricanes got two goals from Brayden Yager which were sandwiched around Brandon goals from Matteo Michels and Marcus Nguyen.

Miguel Marques scored halfway through the period to propel the Hurricanes to a 3-2 lead.

In the third, Carsen Adair scored to give the Hurricanes a two-goal lead.

With a little under four minutes left, Brandon got one from Nicholas Johnson, but the Wheat Kings couldn’t find the equalizer.

Brandon outshot Lethbridge 28-26.

Game 3 and 4 are set for Tuesday and Wednesday in Brandon. Puck drop both nights is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT.
