Driver charged in hit-and-run crash on Blackfoot Trail

Calgary police say a 22-year-old man in facing charges after a hit-and-run crash last week that sent at least one person to hospital in serious condition.

Police were called to a three-vehicle crash in the 3200 block of Blackfoot Trail S.E. at 9 a.m. on Nov. 24.

On arrival, they learned a black Dodge Ram had struck two vehicles at a high rate of speed before fleeing the scene by driving up an embankment and through a chain-link fence bordering restricted city property.

Police followed the tire tracks and located the damaged truck along with the driver and passenger.

Both were arrested at the scene.

Officials said there were signs of impairment in the vehicle, including open containers of alcohol.

Police added further investigation determined the driver was also responsible for damage to a number of parked cars on Nov. 22.

The driver was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.

Further charges about his impairment are pending the result of toxicology reports.

The accused is expected in court on Jan. 30, 2026.
