Wanted North Bay man arrested in Barrie one month after removing ankle monitor: police

A wanted man from North Bay was arrested in Barrie after removing his ankle monitor one month ago.

A wanted man from North Bay accused of removing his ankle monitor nearly one month ago was arrested at a Barrie, Ont. residence on Wednesday.

Barrie police say the 29-year-old man was wanted on more than a dozen charges, including dangerous operation causing bodily harm, uttering threats, and assault with a weapon, and was required to wear the GPS monitor as part of his bail conditions. According to police, he unlawfully removed the monitor on Jan. 21.

At that time, police warned that the accused could become dangerous if confronted, urging the public not to approach him if spotted.

Nearly one month later, police say the tactical team and members of the Repeat Offenders Parole Enforcement squad located the North Bay man and took him into custody. He has since been taken back to North Bay where he was charged with three counts of failing to comply with his release order.
