Two drivers travelling at 174 km/h charged in one traffic stop: OPP

An OPP officer stopped a pair of drivers who were allegedly travelling well above the speed limit on Highway 400 in the Township of Oro-Medonte Friday afternoon.

According to Orillia OPP, the officer pulled over the two vehicles after noticing them travelling together in the northbound direction of Highway 400 just south of Moonstone Road.

Police say the officer clocked the vehicles at 174 kilometres per hour in the posted 100 kilometres per hour zone.

The two 19-year-old drivers from Sudbury were charged with stunt driving and speeding 50 kilometres per hour over the speed limit.

Both drivers had their licences suspended for 30 days and vehicles impounded for 14 days. They are also scheduled for future court dates
