Several officers investigate dispute in Bobcaygeon neighbourhood

Provincial police with the Kawartha Lakes detachment are investigating a situation in a Bobcaygeon neighbourhood that required a hold and secure and temporary evacuation of the immediate area on Wednesday.

Ontario Provincial Police Acting Sgt. Jake Daynes posted a video to social media with few details Wednesday evening. Daynes said officers were dispatched to a residence on Hillview Drive around 3:30 p.m. for a dispute.

“Upon officers arriving they were informed of an alleged weapon that was possibly involved in this dispute,” Daynes stated.

Police have since lifted the hold and secure and allowed residents back into their homes, confirming, “There is no threat to public safety.”

Still, police urge the public to stay away from the area. Daynes said the situation is now isolated to one particular residence.

It’s unclear how many people are in the home, or if any weapons are involved. No injuries have been reported.

Police say this is an active investigation and encourage the public’s patience.
