Police say solo G1 driver found suspended for unpaid fines, without licence

Police say a 40-year-old man from Scarborough is facing multiple charges after being stopped while driving with a G1 licence without a qualified driver in the Town of Mono, Ont. (OPP)

A 40-year-old Scarborough man is facing multiple charges after he was caught driving solo with a G1 license in the Town of Mono.

Officers say the vehicle was pulled over on Highway 10, where police discovered the driver was not only unaccompanied but also suspended for unpaid fines and unlicensed.

Further investigation revealed the man was also required to have an ignition interlock device as part of his licence conditions. But, the device was not installed in the vehicle.

As a result, the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

The man has since been charged with driving while under suspension, driving as a G1 licence holder without a qualified driver, driving in contravention of licence conditions and driving without a licence.
