Snowmobiler rolls off snow bank into officers on patrol

OPP met a rider on the trails near Midland.

A snowmobiler riding along the trail next to Aberdeen Boulevard in Midland rolled off a snow bank right out in front of two police officers on snowmobile patrol.

The driver of the Arctic Cat was arrested around 5:45 p.m. Sunday by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), whom upon further investigation at the scene, allegedly found numerous empty beer cans aboard the snowmobile.

A 41-year-old Midland man faces several impaired driving charges.

He was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice next month, and was also served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension.

The snowmobile was towed and is subject to a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
