Students, who are able to check social media, are discovering many schools and college campuses are closed today.

Both the Simcoe County District School Board, the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, Bluewater District School Board and Trillium Lakelands District School Board have cancelled classes for Monday.

Lakehead University is open but there will be no classes today.

Power has been restored to thousands of homes and businesses in the Barrie area, yet some college campuses across the region haven’t been as lucky.

In advance of students lining up for buses Monday, Georgian College sent out a release Sunday evening.
