While the freezing rain continued outside, it was dry inside Sadlon Arena for the Home and Lifestyle show, where more than a hundred local vendors showcased their products and services for spring projects.
The two-day event was in Barrie for the first time.
“This is a very Canadian, Ontario, local event with local retailers from this area,” said Georgette McCulloch from Our Homes Production Inc. “You’re going to find people that live in your neighbourhood, that work in your neighbourhood, that can come and build your home, renovate your home, they can furnish your home, they can do anything you need done.”
One of the featured products was the Barrie-built Napoleon electric grill, which, McCulloch says, is ideal for those who may not be allowed to have gas grills on their balconies.
“It’s really, really important right now to support local businesses. You know why, I know why,” added McCulloch, referring to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
After wrapping up in Barrie on Sunday, the Home and Lifestyle show will be at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre in Bracebridge on May 24 and 25.
