A Guelph-based company is providing financial support for the 150-foot Canadian flag installation along Highway 400 in Barrie.
On March 26, councillors passed a unanimous motion to erect a huge flag pole, which will soon proudly display our national flag. The installation is intended to serve as a symbol of pride for the Barrie community and visitors passing through the region, standing as a lasting tribute to Canadian unity.
The 150-foot pole is set to be constructed at the Emergency Services Campus on Fairview Road in Barrie.
Skyline, the capital management company offering financial help, says they currently manage more than $9 billion in assets across its real estate and renewable infrastructure platforms.
“We recognize this project as a powerful representation of Canadian spirit and identity, and we’re honoured to contribute to a meaningful initiative that will endure for generations,” said Jason Castellan, Skyline’s co-founder and Chief Executive Officer.
The company says they will assist the City with managing logistics, including site selection and obtaining necessary approvals.
“Skyline continues to be a true leader in our community,” said Mayor Nuttall. “Thanks to their ongoing commitment to Barrie, this flag will fly high in time for Canada Day, showing that we are proud to support our country and our local economy.”
This decision and partnership reflects the City’s commitment to respond to tariff action while showing our national pride.
As part of the motion, Barrie says $250,000 has been set aside for the project, coming from the reinvestment reserve.
“Skyline is a proudly all-Canadian company. In each community we serve, we are supporting Canadian families, businesses, jobs, and the economy by providing great places to live, work, and shop. This project reflects our commitment to strengthening the cultural fabric in our communities and will serve as a lasting reminder of the values that unite us all.”
Councillors have directed staff to have the flag pole fully operational by Canada Day at the very latest. The flag installation is expected to be completed on, July 1.
