Blowing snow on its way to central Ontario

A winter weather travel advisory has been issued for areas of central Ontario on Monday leading into Tuesday morning.

A heavy burst of snow is expected in the Barrie area with small local amounts of accumulation, however, to the north and eastern regions, five to 15 centimetres are expected, with a northwesterly wind gusting up to 70 kilometres per hour.

Environment Canada issued the snow advisory for:

  • Barrie,
  • Collingwood,
  • Hillsdale,
  • Midland,
  • Coldwater,
  • Orr Lake,
  • Orangeville,
  • Grand Valley,
  • Southern and Northern Dufferin County,
  • Shelburne,
  • Mansfield,
  • Hanover,
  • Dundalk,
  • Southern and Northern Grey County,
  • Owen Sound,
  • The Blue Mountains,
  • Port Carling,
  • Port Severn,
  • Huntsville,
  • Baysville,
  • Parry Sound,
  • Rosseau and
  • Killbear Park.

The national weather agency says in a new release that “drivers are to expect hazardous winter driving conditions and to plan travel plans accordingly.”
