Barrie man busted at almost 4x legal blood/alcohol limit: police

A Barrie Police Service officer on patrol spotted a speeding SUV without its lights on at 11:45 p.m on Big Bay Point Road Saturday.

Police say the officer determined the driver barely came to a stop at the Bayview Drive intersection that is currently under construction.

The man was pulled over and the officer charged the 38-year-old Barrie man with impaired driving.

At the police station, the breathalyzer technician confirmed the driver was almost four time over the blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) legal limit.

Police charged him with impaired driving offences, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and several Highway Traffic Act charges related to his driving behaviour.

The man had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days, the SUV was impounded for a week and he is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on February 10.
