A 36-year-old man who is already facing several drug and weapon charges now has an additional trafficking fentanyl charge following an investigation between Charlottetown police and Canada Post.

The Charlottetown Police Services arrested Donald James Lutes after searching a King Street residence and seizing fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, replica firearms and a crossbow on March 12.

Lutes was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking. He has been in custody since his arrest.

Charlottetown police say they later seized 13 grams of fentanyl that was shipped out of Prince Edward Island thanks to a coordinated effort with Canada Post inspectors.

Lutes received a second charge of possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking. He is scheduled to appear in court at an undetermined date.
