Teen facing charges after senior, motorist assaulted in Halifax

A 19-year-old is facing charges after he allegedly attacked a senior and assaulted a motorist in separate incidents in Halifax Saturday afternoon.

Halifax Regional Police responded to an assault call in the area of Lacewood Drive and Regency Park Road around 12:20 p.m.

Police say the suspect assaulted a senior he didn’t know and then fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

The senior was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

About 30 minutes later, police received a report from a man who said he was stopped at a red light on Lacewood Drive when a man he didn’t know approached his vehicle and began to smash the mirror on the driver’s side.

When the driver confronted the man, he allegedly punched the motorist and fled the scene on foot.

Police found and arrested the suspect on Thomas Raddall Drive around 1 p.m. They determined he was also the suspect involved in the first assault on Lacewood Drive.

The 19-year-old, who has not yet been named, is facing charges of assault and assault causing bodily harm. He is due to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date.
