A shooting prompted police to close a section of St. Margaret’s Bay Road in Halifax Friday morning.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the 200-300 block of St. Margaret’s Bay Road around 5:30 a.m.
The man was taken to hospital with what are believed to be serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
Police have not released his age or said whether they are looking for any suspects.
Police tape and markers could be seen outside the nearby Chocolate Lake Hotel.
Police asked people to stay out of the area.

Police say their investigation is in the early stages.
“At this time, investigators believe this was not a random incident and there is not a broad threat to the general public,” reads a news release from Halifax Regional Police.
Cst. Martin Cromwell said the people in the incident are known to each other.
St. Margaret’s Bay Road was closed from Fenerty Road to the Armdale Rotary.
It reopened around 12:30 p.m.
Police say they remain in the area of Aldrerwood Drive and Birchwood Drive, off of St. Margarets Bay Road, while officers investigate.
