Reward offered for information one year after N.S. man’s shooting death

The province of Nova Scotia is offering a reward for information about a man’s shooting death one year ago.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of gunshots on Ancona Place in Dartmouth around 9 p.m. on March 31, 2025.

Officers found a man who had been shot and Cortrell Thomas, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators do not believe the shooting was random.

At the time of the shooting, they were looking for two suspects who were last seen leaving Ancona Place through the Po2 Craig Blake Memorial Park.

Thomas’ case has been added to a provincial rewards program for unsolved crimes.

Up to $150,000 is being offered for information related to his death.

Investigators say people may have information they have not shared with police.

“If you have any information that can help solve the murder of Mr. Thomas, I urge you to come forward,” said Attorney General and Minister of Justice Scott Armstrong.

“No matter how big or small you think it is, you may have the missing piece that is needed.”

Including this case, there are now 124 active cases in the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.
