A 30-year-old man has been charged with drug trafficking after police say they seized cocaine from a vehicle during a traffic stop in New Glasgow, N.S., Friday afternoon.

A New Glasgow Regional Police officer spotted the man driving a white Hyundai Elantra on East River Road around 1:30 p.m.

Police say the driver was known to them for allegedly having a revoked driver’s licence, so they pulled him over.

While searching the vehicle police say they seized cocaine, a digital scale, open alcohol and individual bags. They arrested the driver and his passenger for possession of a controlled substance.

Coty Leblanc of Pictou County has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and driving a motor vehicle while the licence was revoked.

Leblanc was remanded into custody and set to appear in Pictou provincial court on Monday.

His passenger, a 21-year-old unnamed woman from Pictou County, was also charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She was released and is due in court at a later date.
