A furniture store in Halifax is boarded up Monday after a man allegedly went into medical distress and crashed into the building last week.
Halifax Regional Police saw a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Young and Robie streets in north end Halifax around 7:40 p.m. Friday.
The force says the vehicle hit a vehicle and then a tree, before crashing into the side of the store – called Attica Furnishings – on Robie Street where it came to a stop.

The driver, a 75-year-old man, appeared to be in medical distress and was taken to hospital, according to a news release from police.
Robie Street was closed to traffic between Almon and Young streets for several hours.

Suzanne Saul, the owner Attica Furnishings, says she is thankful no one was inside the store or on the sidewalk at the time of the crash.
“To be honest, we don’t have a lot of details about why it happened or how it happened. There’s very little product damage,” she said.
“Just the windows boarded up now. It’s more to the building, the damage there.”
