A man has been charged with nine offences following a drug trafficking investigation in Ohio, N.S.

A man has been charged with nine offences following a drug trafficking investigation in Ohio, N.S.

The Southwest Nova RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit said officers conducted a search warranted at a house on Highway 203 Thursday. Police seized 1.1 kilograms of cocaine, 3.3 kilograms of cannabis, 60,000 unstamped tobacco cigarettes, $50,000 in cash, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a machete.

James Edward Reid, 64, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Selling (cannabis)
  • Selling Unstamped Cannabis – Excise Act
  • Unlawful possession or sale of tobacco products – Excise Act
  • Selling of Tobacco Products and Raw Leaf Tobacco
  • Possession Tobacco - No Taxes Paid – Revenue Act, Nova Scotia
  • Possession Unstamped Tobacco – Revenue Act, Nova Scotia
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Investigators said he was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Barrington provincial court in June.

Police said the investigation began in 2024 and is being assisted by the Shelburne RCMP Detachment, Bridgewater Police Service, the Criminal Intelligence Service Nova Scotia and the Department of Service Nova Scotia.
