Police lay attempted murder charge after 74-year-old woman seriously injured in Woodstock, N.B.

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after a 74-year-old woman was found seriously injured in Woodstock, N.B.

The Woodstock Police Force said officers responded to a residence on Houlton Street around 9 p.m. on Oct. 20. When they arrived, police said a woman was found outside with serious injuries.

Shortly after, police said a suspect was located nearby and arrested. She was initially charged with assault causing bodily harm.

“After further investigation and a review of the evidence by the Woodstock Police Force Criminal Investigation Section and in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, the charge has been upgraded to Attempted Murder,” said police in a news release Friday.

Destiny Innis, 23, has been charged with attempted murder and remains in custody.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area of Houlton Street and Charles Street between 8 and 10 p.m. on Oct. 20, or who may have video footage from that time, to contact investigators at 506-325-4601 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
