Three N.B. men accused of fleeing police while hauling stolen trailer

Three men from New Brunswick are facing charges after they allegedly fled from police while hauling a stolen trailer.

The RCMP received a report of suspicious activity in the Meductic, N.B., area shortly after 8 p.m. Monday.

While patrolling the area, police tried to stop a “vehicle of interest” that was hauling an enclosed trailer on Temple Road, but the RCMP says the driver instead fled at a high rate of speed.

Officers deployed a “tire deflation device” to stop the vehicle and arrested three men at the scene.

Police seized ammunition while searching the vehicle and determined the trailer had been reported stolen.

Tim Wheelan, 39, of Hartland appeared in Woodstock provincial court on Tuesday. He is facing the following charges:

• failure to comply with a probation order
• breach of a recognizance
• possession of stolen property obtained by crime over $5,000
• resisting a peace officer
• dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
• flight from a peace officer

Brandon Schriver, 24, from Beaconsfield also appeared in Woodstock provincial court on Tuesday. He has been charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited and possession of stolen property obtained by crime over $5,000.

A 25-year-old man from Southern Victoria, who has not yet been named, was released on conditions to appear in court at a later date.
