The Terry Fox Run is returning to the Confederation Bridge this September.
The event, marking the Marathon of Hope’s 45th anniversary, will allow participants to walk, run, or wheel across the 12.9 kilometre span linking New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island on Sept. 21.
Participants will be able to begin at either side of the bridge.
The Confederation Bridge event will happen one-week after traditional Terry Fox Runs are held in more than 9,000 communities across the country on Sept. 14.

The last Terry Fox Run on the Confederation Bridge was held in 2015, with about 6,000 participants.
Registration for the Terry Fox Run, including the Confederation Bridge event, will begin April 12: the same day Fox dipped his artificial leg into the Atlantic Ocean to begin his Marathon of Hope from St. John’s in 1980.
The theme for this year’s event is “Finish It.” Altogether, the Terry Fox Run has raised more than $850 million for cancer research in Canada.
