SPCA investigating after newborn kittens allegedly thrown over N.B. bridge

The Oromocto and Area SPCA is investigating after several newborn kittens were allegedly thrown over a bridge in the area.

According to a Facebook post by the SPCA, a man who was fishing in the area saw a person throw something over the Swan Creek Bridge on the highway and went to investigate. The item was determined to be a kennel and inside were a number of newborn kittens with their umbilical cords still attached and eyes not open.

The SPCA believed the mother cat was also in the kennel but had escaped before the rescuer got to her.

In the post, the SPCA confirmed the kittens are safe with one of their foster families, but they are hoping to reunite them with their mother once she is found.

The SPCA is asking if anyone who knows who may have done this or anyone who sees a new cat around the area to contact the New Brunswick SPCA animal protection officer at 506-461-9078.
