Saint John police arrest teen for allegedly sexually assaulting 4-year-old at trampoline park

A 16-year-old male is in custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl at a Saint John, N.B., trampoline park over the weekend.

The Saint John Police Force says it responded to reports of a fight at a trampoline park on the east side of the city around 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Police say a 24-year-old female witness saw a male youth assaulting a child. When the witness tried to help the victim, the accused allegedly attacked her.

Other patrons intervened and an off-duty police officer who happened to be at the park arrested the accused until uniformed officers arrived at the scene.

The child victim went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released. The adult victim suffered minor injuries.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at an unspecific date.
