The Saint John Police Force is investigating a fire that heavily damaged a playground in the city’s west end.

The City of Saint John says the Marketplace West playground will be closed until further notice “due to a fire caused by vandalism.” The playground has been taped off over safety concerns.

“Vandalism like this comes with a significant cost in time and resources, and unfortunately, the playground may be closed for an extended period,” a Facebook post from the city reads.
